4 c. milk
1/3 c. corn meal
3/4 c. dark molasses
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
3 tbsp. sugar
1 well beaten egg
1/2 c. raisins (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Place milk in top of double boiler. Stir in corn meal.
Cook for 15 minutes. Stir molasses into mixture and cook for 5 more minutes. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Pour batter into well greased baking dish. Bake the pudding in a slow oven, about 325 degrees, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serve hot with cream or vanilla ice cream.
