Ingredients:  
1 lb. lean ham, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
4 med. potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 med. onion, chopped
6 cups water
1 t,. salt
1/2 t. pepper
2 cloves garlic, smashed and minced
Instant potatoes.

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients into a 5 quart stockpot and bring to a boil.Turn down the heat and cook until the potatoes are tender. Using a potato masher smash some of the potatoes. If the soup is still to thin add Instant potatoes to it to bring to the correct consistency.

Variations:
Hot dogs instead of ham.
Add a handful of macaroni to the pot
Side pork cut into strips and fried
Bacon even.
