1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 stick margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon

Topping:
6 Tbsp. margarine
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325.

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand for 20 minutes.

Cream together sugars, margarine and vanilla. Add eggs and oatmeal. Add salt, baking soda, flour, and cinnamon.
Bake for 50 minutes or until done.

Topping:
Mix all ingredients well and cook for 1 minute until sugar melts. Spread on hot cake. Put under broiler until brown.
