2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c melted lard or shortening
1 c sour milk
flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp baking soda
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla
jam or jelly

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and eggs. Melt lard. Add to creamed mixture. Stir milk and baking soda together. Add to mixture. Add flour and cream of tartar. Put enough flour to make a stiff dough. Roll out on lightly floured surface. Do not use to much flour, it will make a hard cookie if you do. You can make an indentation in the middle with your thumb. Put in some jelly in the indentation. Bake at 400 until brown.
