1 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 c pumpkin
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c finely chopped nuts

Icing

1/2 c packed brown sugar
3 T butter
1/4 c milk
confectioner sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening. Beat in the sugar and egg. Blend in vanilla and pumpkin. Mix and sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture. Fold in walnuts. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets and bake in 350 oven for 10-15 minutes. Cool cookies on a rack and frost with icing.

Icing

Combine brown sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add enough confectioner sugar to make mixture of spreading consistency. Frost each cookie.
