2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 c. + 2 T. unsalted butter, softened
1 c. firmly packed light brown or dark brown sugar (or a combination of the two).
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
(Optional- 3/4 c. coarsely chopped walnuts)
Chocolate chips to your desire 9 (I usually put in 1/2 to 3/4 cups in)

Preheat oven to 375.

Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream butter and sugars until smooth, about 4 minutes.

Add the egg and vanilla and mix well. Add the flour mixture and beat thoroughly.

Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if added).

Drop by 2 T. clumps onto an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving several inches between for expansion.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until bottoms are lightly browned. (For my oven it takes about 7 minutes)

Personal Notes:
This is my mother in law's recipie. It is my husband's favorite so I make it a LOT! But we love it because it is not a cakey cookie with lots and lots of flour. Enjoy!
