Apple Bars Recipe

2 1/2 cups flour
1 Tbsp sugar
3/4 lard or shortening
1 egg yolk + milk to = 3/4 cup (save egg white)

5 cups apples
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon

Mix together crust ingredients like pie crust
divide and roll out 1/2 for bottom crust. Place in 11 X 15 pan.
Mix filling ingredients together and place in crust.
Roll out other half of dough for top crust.
Beat egg white and brush on top of crust. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Lightly frost with powdered sugar frosting while still warm.
