1/2 Cup shortening
3/4 Cup cocoa
1 Cup boiling water
2 Cup sugar
3 eggs
2 Cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1/2 Cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Mash shortening lightly and add cocoa, add boiling water & sugar add unbeaten eggs one at a time, beat after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder & soda, add to mixture and mix in well add buttermilk last. Mix well & pour into two greased & floweredd pans or one big round pan.

Bake at 350 degrees

This cake tastes best if baked in a round pan, that way there won't be any arguing over who gets the corner piece, and the fact that Mom alwasy made it in a big round cake pan.
