Personal Notes:
Mary Jo Lane was my best childhood friend. We met in Drew Central elementary school, Monticello, Arkansas, and we remained friends through high school, marriages, babies, long separations and through her long, brave struggle with cancer. I distinctly remember the Sunday meals at the Lane home with the traditional southern-fried chicken, mashed potatoes; gravy and sweet peas.
