Crust: 3 sticks butter, 2 c. flour, 2 c. oatmeal, 1 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1 t. soda, 1/2 t. salt.

Filling: 12 oz. chocolate chips, 1 c. chopped pecans, 1 1/2 c. caramel sauce, 6 T. flour.

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9 X 13" pan. Melt butter & pour over dry ingredients, stirring with wooden spoon. Press half mixture in pan & bake for 10 minutes. While crust is baking, mix together flour & caramel sauce & set aside.
Remove pan from oven & sprinkle with chips, swirling gently to melt chips. Sprinkle with pecans. Pour caramel mixture over top. Crumble remaining crust on top. Bake 15-20 minutes. Cool overnight at room temperature. Cut in small squares.

One of Jim's favorite bars! Several years ago, a neighbor brought these bars to Mom's house when Mom was sick. I tasted them & had to have the recipe!
