1 T. butter, 3/4 c. brown sugar, 1 egg, 1 1/2 c. flour, 1 t. soda, 1/4 t. salt, 1/2 c. chopped nuts, 8 oz. dates, snipped, 1 c. hot water.

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over snipped dates & let set while preparing batter. Beat butter, sugar & egg till frothy. Add dry ingredients alternately with drained dates. Mix well. Stir in nuts & bake at 325 in greased loaf pan for 50 minutes or until done.
