1 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C. chopped nuts
1 C. sour cherries, (drained) save juice
1 heaping TBSP butter, melted
--- SAUCE
Juice from can of cherries
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 heaping TBSP cornstarch

3 or 4 drops red food coloring
1 Pt. cream for whipping

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first group of ingredients, add well beaten egg, drained cherries and butter. Mix well. Bake in a "moderate oven for 25 to 30 minutes". (375 degree) for 25 to 30 minutes.
---Sauce: In top pan of a double boiler, Put juice from the cherries and the rest of the ingredients listed for sauce. Let this thicken.

When cake has cooled, frost cake with whipped cream.
Add a few drops of red food coloring to the cherry sauce then dribble over the whip cream.

Oven temperature stated "moderate"- internet translated this to 375 degrees.
