3 eggs, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup flour, 2/3 cup cold water, 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. vanilla.

Mom used powdered sugar frosting--quite thin, rolled in peanuts that were also quite crushed-peraonsl preference.

Marcia's note: Marshmallow creme and butter can be mixed with the powdered sugar frosting.

Beat eggs for 3 minutes. Add sugar and beat 2 minutes. Add 1 cup flour and beat 5 minutes. Add 2/3 cup cold water and the remaining cake ingredients. Grease and flour pan. Bake for 30 min. at 350.

Betty says that her Mom was a great cook. we remember her pies. Grandma Ellie Bastian would make a Peanut Bar recipe as a treat to bring when she came to visit. This recipe includes a cake from scratch and a frosting recipe that's a bit different than Dianne and Milly's.
