Ingredients:
“Made this for Valentine’s Day”

1 cup Domino granulated sugar
¾ cup firmly packed Domino Light Brown Sugar
¼ lb (1/2 cup) soft butter or margarine
3 ozs. unsweetened chocolate, melted
3 egg yolks
¼ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups sifted cake flour (Swans Down or similar)
½ tspn. Salt
1 tspn baking soda
1 cup milk
3 egg whites

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugars and butter. Add melted chocolate. Beat yolks; add water and extract and blend. Gradually add yolk mixture to chocolate mixture; beat until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, blending well after each addition. Beat egg white until stiff but not dry; fold into batter.

Turn into two greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans or one greased and floured 13X9X2 inch pan. Bake layers or loaf in moderate oven 350 degrees F for about 30-35 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly. Turn out on cooling rack. Yield: two 9-inch layers or one 13X9X2 inch loaf.

Or, you can use Duncan Hines Chocolate Cake Mix!! The homemade one is so much better, but not necessarily as moist.

Personal Notes:
I usually use Duncan Hines layer cake mix and cover with fudgy icing. This is something special. It really tastes a lot better and a lot fudgier. Save it for special occasions such as Valentines day.

To make a heart, bake one round and one square 8" or 9" cake. After they are baked and cooled, cut the round cake in half, turn the square into a diamond shape and place the half rounds on either side of the diamond. Ouila! A heart-shaped cake. Ice with your favorite chocolate icing and line with red cinnamon dots around the perimeter.
