Cake: 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 3/4 cup whole cranberries, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 cup milk, 3 T. melted butter, 1 egg.

Sauce: 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 3/4 cup cream, 2 tsp. cornstarch, vanilla and nutmeg to taste.

Bake in deep dish at 375 about 40 minutes.

Sauce: combine all ingredients and bring to a boil, stir often. Add flavoring last.

Serve warm with warm sauce.

This was a favorite dessert at holiday parties at Marcia's work (originally from Valerie Grahn) and is a great fall-winter treat. You can never have too much of the butter sauce! It's a great Christmas dessert!
