1 loaf of 2-day-old French bread
2 lbs. ripe tomatoes
1 cup chopped red onion
1 tsp. basil
5 Tbsp. olive oil
3 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
Season with salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the first 4 ingredients. Then drizzle the oil and vinegar over that. Season with salt and pepper. Let it stand 10 minutes before serving.

A friend served this to a group of ladies, along with provolone cheese slices and salami slices. It was deemed to be "super" and "the best salad I've had in a long time--definitely Italian."
