Ingredients:  
1 1/2 lbs. or 5 c onion, 3 tbsp. butter, vegetable oil, 1/2 tsp. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 2 qt. beef consommé, 1/2 c vermouth or white wine.

Directions:
Directions:
Cook over low heat onions butter and oil add sugar, salt. Add the beef consommé and vermouth and cook slowly for 30 minutes. I put this into crocks and add croutons and monteray jack cheese.
