Ingredients:
3 cups granulated sugar
A pinch of salt
1 can of evaporated milk
½ stick of butter
1 or more tsp. of vanilla
1 ½ cups of chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Place 2 ½ cups of sugar, pinch of salt and 1 can of evaporated milk in a saucepot and begin cooking. In a separate pot, put ½ cup of sugar and cook over medium heat until sugar becomes medium brown (crystallizes). When both pots come to a boil simultaneously, pour some of the 2-½ cup mixture in ½ cup mixture. Stir together and pour back into 2-½ cup pot. Cook on low until it quits trying to boil over then you can raise the heat to medium until a soft ball forms in cold water (approximately 40 – 60 minutes). Remove from heat. Add ½ block butter, pecans, a teaspoon of vanilla (more, if you desire) and stir until candy “turns”. Pour into buttered pan. Cut after it cools into serving pieces.
