Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 2 cups milk 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp. cocoa Dash of salt 1 tbsp. butter vanilla 1 cup nuts (I like black walnuts)
|
|
Directions: |
Directions:Mix first 4 ingredients in a 4 qt. saucepan. Boil until it reaches soft ball stage. Test by putting small amount in a cup of cold water. When it holds together in a soft ball, it is done. Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla and nuts. Beat until creamy. Pour in a 9x12 inch buttered dish. Cut into squares when cool. Note: This is also good poured over popcorn and mixed to make chocolate covered popcorn. |

Notes: This is very good with lots of childhood memories. When we (my brothers and I) were small kids at home, on cold winter nights we would , with Mother's help, make a big pan of fudge and pop a big dishpan of popcorn. We would all gather around our big coal heating stove on cold winter nights and enjoy while Mother would read a story to us, or we would help Dad shell corn for seeds. After I grew up and had a family we still enjoyed the same on cold winter nights.
