4 chicken breasts, boned and skinned
salt and pepper
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 package 10 oz. frozen artichoke hearts, thawed and halved
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
3 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup chicken broth
1-1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/4 cup fine bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon dried savory leaves
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
chopped parsley, optional for garnish.

tips: you may substitute canned artichoke hearts for the frozen.
good served with: steamed rice or boiled noodles and crusty bread roll

cut each chicken breast into 2 inch pieces. sprinkle with salt and pepper
saute in butter a few minutes until chicken is no longer pink.
arrange chicken pieces and artichoke hearts evenly in a buttered baking dish. set aside.
in a saucepan, blend melted butter and flour until smooth.
gradually add broth to butter mixture, stirring until smooth.
cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sauce starts to thicken. remove from heat.
stirring grated cheddar cheese and nutmeg. blend well pour over chicken and artichokes.
mix bread crumbs, savory and thyme.
sprinkle mixture evenly over chicken and cream sauce. drizzle with melted butter.

bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until top is crisp and golden brown.
