Crust
1/2 c. butter - room temperature
1/4 c. sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 1/2 c. featherlight mix (or your favorite mix)
1/8 tsp. salt

Filling
1/2 c. maple syrup
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. whipping cream
3 T. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2c. chopped pecans (toasted)

Preheat oven to 350. Line bottom of 9x9x2 pan with parchment paper.

For crust:
Using electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, and egg yolk in bowl to blend. Add flour and salt; beat until moist clumps form. Gather dough together. Press dough over bottom of pan. Bake until crust is golden, about 20 minutes.

For Filling:
Combine first 4 ingredients in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stiring until butter melts and mixture is smooth. Boil filling 30 seconds. Remove from heat; mix in vanilla, then nuts.

Pour hot filling onto crust. Bake cars until filling is bubbling in the center, about 15 minutes. Cool bars completely in pan on rack (filling will become firm).
