1 1/4 cup stale bread
2 cups scalded milk
2 tbsp. butter
salt
3-5 tbsp. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Raisins if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together bread crumbs, sugar, salt, and butter. Pour the hot milk over the bread mixture; cover and set aside to become lukewarm. Add the slightly beaten eggs and vanilla. Turn into lightly buttered baking dish and bake in a moderate oven (325) for one hour or until pudding is fairly firm in center.

Please remember that this is not fine crumbs that one would use to cover for a crust on fryed chicken. This is the same that one would use if stuffing a turkey. Just broken/torn bread pieces.
